  • The Midpoint and the Finish Line – 10 April 2021

    Today’s Inspiration:

Another good Saturday morning, informal meeting with the creativity circle.

    Today’s joy:

Finished another scene in this play.

    A past joy:

Finishing other plays.  Typing “The End” is very satisfying.  I should begin writing the last scenes first.

  • Returning and Departing – 9 April 2021

    Today’s Inspiration:

    the boundaries you set

    Today’s joy:

Seeing the Dora Milaje in action again. They so thoroughly punked John Walker, to the point where he decided he must take the vial of super serum he’d stolen. If Ayo hadn’t decided to leave the shield with Walker at the end of their fight, it was going to leave with them, having been reclaimed. But, it’s such a great show of their power that the shield, even if you’ve only seen it within the context of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, being wielded as a great weapon, wasn’t even important enough to them to take it with them, if for nothing else, so that Walker couldn’t have it. It’s even bigger if you’ve been following the MCU and know all the backstory of it. It’s probably an even bigger moment if you’ve read the comics, which I have not.

    And Ayo literally disarmed Bucky.

I do wonder if no more sight of Zemo and them chasing after him means we’ll see all of them in one of the last couple of episodes or on another show or in a movie.

    Today’s joy also included this:

DMX: "I've lived a good life."

    A past joy:

Seeing Black Panther in the theatre. Obviously, it was a really good movie, but I had a hilarious moment on the way into the theatre. There was was this sista sitting on the first row of the theatre with the biggest Popeye’s spread I’ve ever seen. She had to have dared anybody say something to her because she had all her food, dipping sauces, everything, out in full view. She was going to enjoy that movie her way.

  • Heat at the Yard – 8 April 2021

    Today’s Inspiration:

my will is stronger than rejection

    Today’s joy:

Really enjoyed today’s Mets home opener vs. the Marlins, even if the ending was awkward and anticlimactic.  Jeff McNeil’s game tying home run in the bottom of the 9th was a great moment, though.

    A past joy:

Coming from Washington, D.C. Union Station to Camden Station for an O’s game one summer.  It was hot that day, hot on the train, and super hot at the game.  But lots of fun.

  • O’s and W’s – 7 April 2021

    Today’s Inspiration:

being closed off from everyone and everything else is not living

    Today’s joy:

O’s beat the Yankees.  Always a joy.

    A past joy:

O’s opening day, which for this season is tomorrow.  So, it’s a past and a future joy.

  • Listening to the Silence and the Swing – 6 April 2021

    Today’s Inspiration:

During our creative circle, someone asked about what our expectations were in our creativity, our creative work.  Whether we believed we lived in a world where we could be successful in our creative pursuits.  I thought about it and realized I needed to come back to this question as well as many others.

    Today’s joy:

Watching this evening’s O’s and Mets games online.

    A past joy:

Listening to or watching baseball during a long road trip.

  • Joy in Performance, but not the Performance of Joy – 5 April 2021

    Today’s inspiration

    Nothing as of press time.

    Today’s joy:

Looking at ordering another copy of “Radio Golf” by August Wilson.  Plus, still feeling high from last night’s Verzuz.

    A past joy:

Doing weird art performances inside Penn Station New York.

  • Black Music is a Joy – 4 April 2021

    Today’s joy:

Getting this computer setup almost completely done.

    A past joy:

Verzuz: Gladys Knight vs. Patti Labelle

  • Streaming by the Stream – 3 April 2021

    Today’s inspiration:

    None as of press time.

    Today’s joy:

O’s won.  Messed around with my mic and mixer to get the audio for streaming together.  Got out of the house for a few hours.

    A past joy:

Again, missing just going down to the Science Center and hanging out and writing there.

Also, when I was really young, they used to serve really good food.  I think there may have been a Friendly’s inside of the building or some other restaurant I liked as a kid.

That and I got to talk some train stuff, play some games, and watch more quality content that I like.  I also discovered that it was good to watch TV on my comptuer monitor instead of the TV.

    A past joy:

Also a future joy.  Back on stage.

    the unexpected guest review

  • Still Closed – 1 April 2021

    Today’s inspiration:

    Nothing really inspirational today.

    Today’s joy:

My joy was going to be to watch both the O’s and Mets openers, but the O’s were rained out in Boston and several Nationals players have issues with Covid, so both games were postponed.  Instead of those being my joy for the day, I took a really good nap and participated in a write-in later in the evening.

    A past joy:

    Opening Day.  For my teams.
