“Runnin” by the Pharcyde
Today’s joy:
A fun time out, running errands in the evening.
A past joy:
Running the same errands, but just before the time of Covid.

Today’s joy:
A fun time out, running errands in the evening.
A past joy:
Running the same errands, but just before the time of Covid.
Today’s inspiration:
Just listening to some of the songs from my “feel good” playlist.
Today’s joy:
Watching more of my favorite driving videos. Noticing how our highways around here don’t have any really huge churches or crosses or porn shops like some of the midwest highways I’ve had the chance to drive in recent times.
A past joy:
Earlier, I was watching a video depicting some of the construction on the I-295/I-76/NJ-42 direct connection project. I used to love driving through there even in its current, undesirable configuration. 295 south of there is a really nice drive. I’d describe it as exurban and rural. A nice change of pace from the Jersey Turnpike and from the megahighway you return to once you’ve crossed the Delaware Memorial Bridge.
Today’s inspiration:
John Means was going to quit baseball. He made a LinkedIn profile because he was about to hang it up. But he didn’t. He kept believing.
Today’s joy:
John Means throwing the Orioles first no-hitter since 1991 when Bob Milaki, Mike Flanagan, Mark Williamson, and Gregg Olson combined to no-hit the A’s. The first Orioles complete game no hitter since Jim Palmer in 1969. Definitely one of the most impressive O’s pitching outings of all time.
A past joy:
Johan Santana throwing the very first Mets no-hitter in 2012. 134 pitches. By the 7th inning, I knew either he was going to lose it or he was going to keep going, no matter how many pitches until he got it. And he had been on a known pitch count limit from Terry Collins. It was a really fun game to watch.
Today’s inspiration:
Nothing too inspiring. But at least the joy was there.
Today’s joy:
Riding around and getting pictures and video. Getting quiet tonight. The silence is sweet.
A past joy:
Going go-kart racing.
Today’s Inspiration:
Nothing much.
Today’s joy:
Meeting with our creativity group, but also taking a break from it for a while to come back, hopefully more refreshed, energized.
A past joy:
Sitting in the computer lab at school, writing plays. I wrote the one-act for my Intro to Theatre final, in 90 minutes. It was about 60 pages before I had to cut it down.

Today’s joy:
It wasn’t necessarily a joyous day and I didn’t find much inspiring. Nothing wrong with being honest about it.
A past joy:
Going to the Banneker-Douglass Museum in Annapolis. Part of the musuem is an old church, pretty much fully preserved. It was good to really step back through history in there.
Today’s inspiration:
The land around Maryland. Severn River. The country. All around this place.
Today’s joy:
Rolling around Central Maryland, seeing a lot of places I hadn’t seen in a very long time. Seeing these old places anew. Seeing some new things. Ritchie Highway. Crain Highway. Solomons Island Road.
A past joy:
Going down to Freetown, Maryland and seeing Kess Circle for the first time.

Today’s joy:
I got to listen a little of a group chat among Black playwrights before having some unforeseen technical issues. Plus, night two of the draft.
A past joy:
The last time I joined in on the conversation.
Today’s Inspiration:
People taking big steps in their lives.
Today’s joy:
Enjoying the first round of the draft. I really like watching these young people moving into what’s hopefully, living out a dream and making the most of the chance.
A past joy:
Seeing players drafted from Maryland, generally, but Baltimore, specifically.
